Oral Bacteria Lab is a privately developed application that uses AI to provide an interactive, evidence-informed, and didactically clear tool for simulating the dynamics of the oral microbiome based on publicly available scientific knowledge.
The model is built on a database of 23 key bacteria and one yeast, which together represent up to 95% of processes in the oral microbiome. In reality, the microbiome involves thousands of microbial species and no model can fully capture them all.
Each of these 24 microorganisms is described by mathematically defined characteristics derived from lab-determined MIC values and additional parameters such as:
In its current scope, the database contains roughly 150 parameters per microorganism and is designed to be refined and expanded over time.
All publicly available data — including correlations expressed via the SparCC method — were processed by a custom computational algorithm. The simulation uses a one-day time step; each day’s output becomes the input for the next day. The PRO version allows simulations of up to 365 days.
The outputs are clear, graphically original, and expose previously unpublished combinations, the number of which reaches many billions in the current configuration. All illustrations were generated with ChatGPT based on the author’s prompts; they are illustrative and protected by copyright.
